Majesty and Illusion: Inside the Mighty Wurlitzer

Majesty and Illusion: Inside the Mighty Wurlitzer documents the unexpected grace and beauty of a theater organ’s motors, blowers, and pipes in stunning photographs. The featured organ, Opus 1942, built in 1928 for the Paradise Theater in Chicago, is one of only three five-manual theater organs ever built by Wurlitzer. This volume contains a timeline of the organ’s history and a stoplist.

The Bach Organ of Störmthal: Organ Works of Johann Sebastian Bach
William Porter, organist

In preparation for our historical recreation of a Bach-style organ for our Great Hall, ConstellationCenter is conducting extensive studies of the organs built by the great 18th-century organ builder, Zacharias Hildebrandt.

We found that the Hildebrandt organ at Störmthal has an especially beautiful quality of tone. Its exceptional qualities inspired us to make this recording, awarded a five-star rating by Choir and Organ magazine, with world-renowned organist William Porter.
