Happy New Year!

The end of 2008 marked the completion of many projects for ConstellationCenter; the release of a recording of William Porter playing the Bach Organ at the Evangelisch-lutherische Kirche in Störmthal, Germany, and the printing of a beautiful 100-page coffee table book on the organs of Zacharias Hildebrandt with accompanying DVD of our research trips. In addition, we mailed the second issue of our newsletter as well as our first annual appeal, both of which have been met with great response from our supporters.

2009 promises continued growth and acceleration for ConstellationCenter. We are currently organizing a number of public events that will lift up the project and are looking forward to sending invitations later this season. In addition, please take a look at the dates on the right and let us know if you are interested in attending a presentation in our AcousticsLab.

All the best,

Recording of William Porter on Störmthal's Bach Organ released
The organ at Störmthal has a particularly high variety and quality of tone, earning it the life-long respect of J.S. Bach.  Its beautiful qualities led ConstellationCenter to make this recording with world-renowned organist William Porter released by Loft Recordings. To read more about the recording and ConstellationCenter's role in its production click here. In addition, to purchase a copy of this world-class recording, visit the Gothic Catalog site.

ConstellationCenter has also produced its first book entitled, "Wisom and Beauty: The Great Organs of Zacharias Hildebrandt", featuring the organ at Störmthal as well as other remarkable organs built by Hildebrandt. The book features essays by organist William Porter and George Taylor, principal at Taylor & Boody Organbuilders of Virginia. It will be available for purchase on our website shortly.

We have also produced a DVD that documents our research trips with team members studying the historical precedents for building a Bach-style pipe organ. Excerpts of this DVD can be viewed on our website.

FEATURE: ConstellationCenter's Four Halls

ConstellationCenter will contain four halls within one building, each hall designed to serve several different kinds of performances in a compatible way. We frequently receive questions about these halls on topics ranging from seat count, stage size, and dimensions to programming, architectural finish and decoration, and supporting services.

Our website features an introduction to the four halls and describes our hopes for both the audience member and performer, as well as highlights noteable features of each hall. In addition, photographs of the halls' historical precedents accompany the text.

As work continues on the interior finishes and overall design, these sections of the website will be updated to reflect the most current information on the halls.

Have a question about the ConstellationCenter project? Be sure to submit it to the ConstellationCenter team on our website. We will do our best to get back to you in a timely fashion. In addition, frequent questions will be added to our FAQ section.
